About the book
Jirelle pictures the developments of a young woman with special gifts and is also the name of the main character. She becomes aware of these gifts when she is abducted by the aer'hûmli, a human-like people who help her to connect to her inner qualities and personal power. The aer'hûmli need her for their battle against a foe that threatens all life: Sh'tin, Lord of Darkness, an immense and evil energy form that terrorises the world. The aer'hûmli fight it with their highly developed energetic powers: Earth-power (the physical level), Feel-power (the emotional level) and Mind-power (the mental level). A new world opens up for Jirelle. While getting to know herself and learning how to use her own powers, for instance in the engrossing fight against Sh'tin, she finds her place in this world. She has to face many challenges which she meets with courage and humour - challenges of which her love for her abductor Ir'yn might well be the greatest. The way their bond develops, as Jirelle learns to be who she really is, is both moving and compelling. The book depicts of a world which is strange, but which could exist in reality; and thus becomes a world that is surprisingly familiar, for most of the powers described in this book have been awakened in and developed by many people. The book gives an inspiring perspective on power and identity. |
